GrindTec 2010 challenges the crisis

18.05.09

Enormous interest in Europe’s forum for the sector of Grinding Technology /New exhibition hall creates ideal conditions for targeted further development

Augsburg – Considering the present crisis, which is particularly affecting the machine building industry, this result considerably exceeds the expectations of the Project Management: Only two months after sending out the documentation for participation at the GrindTec 2010, 120 companies have already decided to exhibit at the leading forum for Grinding Technology in Europe. This is already a good third of the total amount of exhibitors at the GrindTec 2008.

The proportion of foreign companies stands at present at 34 %; new participants are coming from Belgium and Korea.

GrindTec: During a crisis focus on that, which is proven

Joachim Kalsdorf, Project Manager of the GrindTec sees many reasons for the success of the GrindTec in these difficult times: “The GrindTec has developed into the leading trade fair for this sector, all the important players in this market are represented and offer the best possible view of state of the art Grinding Technology, more efficiently than anywhere else. A decisive factor are also the favourable costs for participation, which, like the indirect costs of exhibiting, are considerably lower than those at the large trade fair centres.” For the Communications Manager Winfried Forster the excellent results the exhibitors enjoyed from their participation are particularly influential: “78 %* of the companies registered “very good” and “good” results from the GrindTec 2008, and 18 %* were “satisfied”. This means that anyone who does not participate in the GrindTec will also be abstaining not only from the sector’s top platform, but also offering their competitors the chance to take over their share of the market. And in addition,

42 %* of the visitors now only go to the GrindTec in order to inform themselves about the latest developments in the sector, and anyone wanting to contact these visitors can only do so in Augsburg.”

New exhibition hall optimises the infrastructure at the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre

During the 7th GrindTec in Augsburg the new exhibition hall 5 will be available for the first time. The basic area amounts to 8,000 m², it has a usable height of 10 m and the most modern equipment, and the new and now largest hall in the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre offers the best possible opportunities for presentation of exhibits. It replaces the old halls 5 and 6 (together 6,400 m²) and ideally combines the halls 3 and 7 in the closed circuit of the fair. The starting of operations in the new hall also marks a clear improvement in the whole infrastructure of the trade fair centre.

In retrospect:  GrindTec 2008 as the worldwide leading meeting for this sector

By the latest with the previous event the GrindTec had established itself as the most important forum for Grinding Technology, at any rate in Europe. And that is also the opinion of the visitors: 72 % of them even consider the GrindTec to be the worldwide leading trade fair for the sector. The excellent assessment of the range of exhibits is therefore no surprise: 87 % of visitors gave the marks “very good” and “good”, only 2 % were “less satisfied” – which is no surprise, when you consider that the GrindTec nowadays presents the whole periphery of products, which a tool manufacturer needs. The proportion of international guests at the GrindTec was also higher than ever before – after all, every fourth visitor came from outside Germany.
