Eva Weber, Lord Mayor of the City of Augsburg

"For business, companies and industry, networking is an elementary component of their entrepreneurial activities. Trade fair events are indispensable communication platforms."

For the local economy - for hotels and restaurants, for the retail trade and for the skilled trades – trade, fair events represent important economic pillars of their existence. In 2018 alone, they generated sales of goods and services in the region worth around 135 million euros.

Also against this background, the holding of trade fairs such as GrindTec 2020, starting this autumn, is of the utmost importance.
Together with the trade fair organizers AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH, the Association of German Precision Tool Grinders and the participating companies, the Augsburg trade fair company, under enormous effort, has managed to keep GrindTec, the world's leading international trade fair for grinding technology, in Augsburg and to postpone it until November 2020.

In coordination with the responsible Bavarian State Ministries as well as with the other Bavarian trade fair locations, a framework hygiene concept has been drawn up to enable such an event to be held in the context of the pandemic restrictions for exhibitors and visitors.

In the hope that this opportunity will be used responsibly by all those involved, I wish visitors, exhibitors and staff a successful start to the autumn of the fair.

Lord Mayor of the City of Augsburg
