GrindTec 2020 postponed to November 2020 due to the new situation regarding the spread of the coronavirus
Augsburg – Since the problem of SARS-CoV-2 (previously 2019-nCoV, known as Coronavirus) became known, we have been in constant contact with the responsible authorities in order to prepare ourselves conscientiously for the GrindTec 2020. Up to noon on February, 28th 2020, official authorities did not see any restrictions or give recommendations for trade fairs and major events, and therefore we did not consider postponing the GrindTec.
In the evening of Friday, February, 28th 2020, the Robert Koch Institute published new recommendations for major events, which were also referred to by the crisis management team of the Federal Government. We have immediately carried out the evaluation and expert assessment together with branch committees and local authorities.
The managing directors of AFAG, Henning and Thilo Könicke, comment: "The basic situation, which has now changed, has prompted us to postpone the GrindTec 2020. The GrindTec 2020 cannot take place at the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre from 18th to 21st March 2020, as planned. Already now we can say that a new date for the GrindTec is planned for November 2020 (between calendar weeks 46 and 48) in Bavaria. The GrindTec is the most important sector-platform for grinding technology worldwide. Especially in economically challenging times, the branch needs this event, which contributes significantly to the promotion of exports".
A new date for the GrindTec 2020 will be announced next week. Current information is available on a regular basis at www.grindtec.de
