Current information for visitors
Positive impulses for the GrindTec 2020
Dear visitors of GrindTec,
New ifo figures signal significant improvement for the next six months
During the Corona crisis, the business climate index fell to a historic low of 74.3 points. Current figures of the ifo business climate index and evaluations by Statista are already showing positive trends again: The interviewees from the manufacturing industry are betting on the future and are expecting a clear improvement - which has a decisive effect on the current business climate and sets the course for the GrindTec.
Another positive signal can be heard from the automotive industry: Volkswagen ended short-time working on July 1, and production at the core brand is once again running at full capacity. Production at other car manufacturers and suppliers is also currently being ramped up again.
Preparations for the fair autumn
On 23 June, the Bavarian State Government published the guidelines for the restart of trade fairs. The most important point is the registration of visitors. Thanks to the concept, GrindTec Exhibitors and visitors can expect a relaxed visit to the trade fair.
Current information on entry into the EU from third countries
On Tuesday, June 30, the EU Commission announced a decision to lift restrictions on travel to the EU from 15 different third countries as of July 2, 2020. This decision is a kind of recommendation to the respective EU member states and already indicates that travel restrictions to Germany will be lifted again for many international trade fair visitors. As a result of these relaxations, numerous international exhibitors and visitors will now be able to prepare themselves concretely for their visit to GrindTec 2020.
The Robert Koch Institute, RKI, is continuously monitoring the situation, evaluating all available information, estimating the risk for the population in Germany and providing health professionals with recommendations.
We wish you good preparation for the trade fair, and will be pleased to answer any questions you may have!

The new date for the GrindTec has been fixed!
4 March 2020
Dear GrindTec visitors,
A new date for the GrindTec 2020 has been found: the world’s leading trade fair for grinding technology will take place from November 10th to 13th 2020 at the Augsburg Exhibition Centre.
In close coordination with the responsible authorities and municipal offices, and taking into account, the recommended actions for major events provided by the Robert Koch Institute, the decision was made to postpone the GrindTec 2020 until autumn. This decision was backed and endorsed by GrindTec’s technical sponsor FDPW – the Precision Toolmakers Trade Association – as well as by the fair’s Advisory Board and by other large GrindTec exhibitors. The City of Augsburg and the administrative districts concerned have also lent their support to this course of action.
For this reason, the GrindTec 2020 will not take place as planned from 18 to 21 March 2020, but from November 10th to 13th 2020 at the Augsburg Exhibition Centre.
We’ve already provided some answers to the questions below for you and hope that this is of some assistance.
