From September 1, trade fairs will be held again in Bavaria. The state government has created the appropriate basis. What these trade fairs will look like, and what changes exhibitors and visitors can expect – about this, we will inform you in detail every two weeks from now on in our GrindTec Update.

Dear exhibitors of GrindTec 2020

Many individual discussions with our exhibitors resulted in the following picture: At this time, GrindTec is considered to be particularly important in order to make use of the protective measures that are currently underway, and which will be increasingly relaxed in the coming weeks, and to stimulate business again. Every sales measure is important in order to be able to start the year 2021 as unimpressed as possible and already with new orders. We can see from the current concrete visitor enquiries that the demand for visitor tickets is already increasing - preparations for visiting the trade fair will be made even more carefully this year.

Hygiene concept: First details are ready!

As a renowned trade fair organiser, AFAG is directly involved in the development of the Bavarian State Government's hygiene concept. The hygiene and health protection concept for trade fairs and congresses in Bavaria is currently in the final stages of approval by the responsible state ministries.

Now that this draft has incorporated a coordinated protection and hygiene concept of the Bavarian trade fair industry, we dare to offer you some perspectives. The safety for visitors and exhibitors is non-negotiable and of course our top priority!

So-called primary "protection goals" are decisive here, which we would like to illustrate as follows:

  • Enabling the current distance and distance rules
    From today's point of view, no replanning of your stand area (stand design) is necessary. On the traffic areas and the entire event site, there is an obligation to wear mouth and nose protection in places where the minimum distance cannot be safely maintained. These must be worn as well during the assembly and dismantling phases. At the exhibition stands, the exhibitors and, during the construction phase, your stand constructor will decide whether or not it is obligatory to wear mouth and nose protection or whether alternative measures such as keeping a safe distance or other protection concepts for employees are appropriate.   • Traceability of contacts (closer/intensive contacts According to RKI rules)
    All persons staying at the exhibition grounds require personalised trade fair passes or personalised tickets. However, it is not
    necessary to document all fleeting encounters on the exhibition grounds. The only obligation will probably be to record all contact persons at the exhibition stands where intensive contact is required, e.g. for longer negotiations or when due to catering, an unprotected conversation, took place.
    In concrete terms, this means ensuring the traceability of Level I contact persons (analogous to the RKI requirement) for the detection of chains of infection, not protected contacts in the sense of the hygiene rules.
  • Ensur ing personal hand hygiene rules
    Due to a high density of permanently installed disinfectant stations in the entrances as well as in particularly heavily frequented areas (e.g. in the press centre, entrances in the halls, gastronomy) and permanently installed disinfectant dispensers in all sanitary facilities, individual and personal hand hygiene is ensured on the premises. This should of course also be maintained at the exhibition stands. We can provide advice here, too, if required.

As soon as the ministerially signed, nationwide framework concept for hygiene and health protection is available, we will provide full details. We expect this decision in June.

However, as you can already see, there will be almost no hard or drastic interventions in the individual type of trade fair presentation - the necessary measures are mostly of an organisational nature.

handwerk magazin: 80% of the craft sector already support the autumn fairs!

Emotions, personal contact and direct advice are the biggest advantages of trade fairs according to a study by the trade fair association AUMA. As the online survey conducted by handwerk magazin and GHM in Munich shows, 80 percent of those questioned would participate in a trade fair again as exhibitors or visitors as early as autumn 2020.
