7th GrindTec Update: GrindTec receives support from politics and business
Dear Sir or Madam,
In preparation for the GrindTec 2020, we would like to keep you up to date on the latest developments. The economy in general, and the grinding technology sector in particular, are already looking forward to the new start of trade fairs and thus also to GrindTec 2020. Also, politicians welcome GrindTec!
Prominent encouragement for the restart of trade fairs
" The point is now that organizers, exhibitors and visitors use the again existing possibility responsibly."
As of September 1, trade fairs may once again be held in Bavaria. Trade fairs are an important market platform for the Bavarian economy and make a significant contribution to economic stabilization.
In order to give the industry planning security for this, the Bavarian Cabinet adopted a detailed hygiene concept for trade fair and congress operations as early as 23 June 2020. This took into account all the important framework conditions required for implementation in line with the infection situation.
Now it is a matter of ensuring that organizers, exhibitors and visitors make use of the opportunity - responsibly - that is once again available.
The Augsburg trade fair location is ideally equipped for the implementation of Coronacompatible trade fair concepts. The trade fair organizers have elaborated and proven security concepts with differentiated quality and crisis management, which offer visitors, exhibitors and employees the highest possible level of security.
GrindTec, which has taken place every two years in Augsburg since 1998, is a good example of a steep rise from small insider event to leading international trade fair. It is an excellent platform for companies in the field of grinding and tool technology and presents innovations as well as numerous specialist lectures from research and development.
I wish the City of Augsburg, AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH and the Association of German Precision Tool Grinders that GrindTec will again meet or even exceed all expectations this year.
Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy
Deputy Prime Minister
"For business, companies and industry, networking is an elementary component of their entrepreneurial activities. Trade fair events are indispensable communication platforms."
For the local economy - for hotels and restaurants, for the retail trade and for the skilled trades – trade, fair events represent important economic pillars of their existence. In 2018 alone, they generated sales of goods and services in the region worth around 135 million euros.
Also against this background, the holding of trade fairs such as GrindTec 2020, starting this autumn, is of the utmost importance.
Together with the trade fair organizers AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH, the Association of German Precision Tool Grinders and the participating companies, the Augsburg trade fair company, under enormous effort, has managed to keep GrindTec, the world's leading international trade fair for grinding technology, in Augsburg and to postpone it until November 2020.
In coordination with the responsible Bavarian State Ministries as well as with the other Bavarian trade fair locations, a framework hygiene concept has been drawn up to enable such an event to be held in the context of the pandemic restrictions for exhibitors and visitors. In the hope that this opportunity will be used responsibly by all those involved, I wish visitors, exhibitors and staff a successful start to the autumn of the fair.

"GrindTec will give the starting signal! It finally brings us together again and sets the course for the future. That is what our sector needs now."
We need trade fairs for a new start!
For several months, we met primarily "virtually" and used video and telephone conferences, remote diagnosis and online training to stay in touch with manufacturers, suppliers and customers.
This worked well for "emergency operations", but now, we want personal contact, direct exchange and discussion more than ever. This is important for getting a feel for our market, for new technologies and current developments.
GrindTec will give the starting signal! It finally brings us together again and sets the course for the future. That is what our sector needs now.

Prof. Wilfried Saxler:
"...GrindTec has the potential to put our sector back on the road to success."
The mood is rising noticeably. According to the ifo business climate index, German entrepreneurs continue to assess the current situation as better than in previous months. They are looking ahead to the coming period with optimism and hope for better business.
And where do you do business? At trade fairs! This is precisely why GrindTec has the potential to put our sector back on the road to success. It creates a platform for physically connecting products, services and people again after a long time. I am very pleased about this, because lively exchange and personal interaction are immensely important - especially if new things are to be developed and times of crisis overcome.
To ensure that all this succeeds, AFAG and Messe Augsburg have drawn up a coherent hygiene and safety concept. In this way, we can finally meet again - in compliance with the rules of the game - and spread a spirit of optimism for the entire industry. See you in Augsburg!

"After Corona, trade fairs will build on old successes. People want to look people in the eye and see how they react. The personal encounter at trade fairs cannot be replaced digitally."

We wish you good preparation for the trade fair, and will be pleased to answer any questions you may have in personal discussions!
